I Wrote a Book!

I wrote a book and you can too!

Okay, so maybe writing a book isn’t one of you wildest dreams, but it was one of mine. I’ve enjoyed writing since I was a kid. It all began with poems…from cute little poems about holidays or my pets to deep poems about feelings and dreams. I even started writing a couple of books when I was in high school. I wrote a few chapters, but that was it. Nonetheless, I’ve always been a writer.

While many other students in school despised English assignments that involved writing a certain type of poem or short story, I loved it. And as much as I hated the actual work of writing research papers and essays in high school and college, I loved the end result.

I had English professors in college who tried to persuade me to change my major. I had no interest in doing that. I didn’t see it being worthwhile professionally. Although I may have been great at writing research papers, I didn’t feel creative enough or good enough to really BE a writer. So, I pushed that dream aside.

Here’s the thing about deep-seeded dreams…they are ALWAYS there, even if it’s just in the back of your mind. I may never become some great novelist or personal growth guru, but that’s okay. I’m still a writer. I believe that dream was put in me for a reason. You may not need my words right now, but somebody does. Somebody needs to hear that they can be brave. Somebody needs to know that the dream that is burning inside of them is achievable. Somebody needs to realize that their talent isn’t for them but for others out there who need what they have to offer.

So, you may not have any interest in writing a book, but there’s a dream inside of you too. If it’s been pushed back, bring it back to the surface. Get familiar with it again. And pursue it!

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
