To My Sister…
May you work for good grades because you are learning but not let them become your only focus. Your future employer won’t care if you got an A or a B.
May you make friendships that are life-long. Darling, get out there and do things. Don’t be afraid to speak up and make friends. You’ll thank yourself ten years from now.
May you learn to let go – bad attitudes, regrets, possessions, perfection, judgment, and toxic friendships/relationships. When you let go of things that don’t add value to your life, it leaves more room for the things and people that do.
May you learn when to relax. There are always things to do and places to go but rushing through life will cause you to miss the importance of life. Stop and smell the flowers. Stand and soak up the sun. Keep jumping in the puddles!
May you try new things. We get too caught up in the familiar and comfort of doing and being the same. Do something different. You may discover talents you don’t know you have.
May you always remember that you can’t please everyone. Stay true to you. Find those who love your quirky traits.
May you learn to forgive, really forgive. Whether you think someone deserves it or not, forgiving them will help your heart stay pure.
May you learn to apologize. When you are wrong, say it. It takes courage to admit mistakes, and it will make you stronger.
May you find someone capable of loving you with their whole heart. And know that love isn’t just a feeling. It’s also a choice. When you find the one, remember it takes work to make it work for the long run.
May you dream big! The bigger you dream, the more you are likely to achieve. Don’t settle for mediocrity in life. Be extraordinary!
May you do the things that you feel are best for you. The path you go down and who you become are a result of the choices you make each day. So, choose your life. Don’t let others choose it for you.
Darling, may you live bold and brave!
